Allergic dermatitis is one of the most common problems we see in pets. Similar to humans, pets can develop allergies to various things in their environment. The most common allergies seen in pets include flea bite allergy, environmental allergies (such as pollen, grass or molds), and food allergies. Contrary to popular belief, the most common allergens in pet foods are chicken, beef, dairy, egg (and fish for cats). Early detection is key to decrease the chances of chronic changes in the skin and coat, so please contact us if you suspect your pet may have allergies.
There is no cure for allergies, but consistent management and monitoring can help minimize symptoms. At Indy Paws, we carry all of the newest medications available to help your pet (and you!) stay as comfortable as possible.
